Day Six

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

For the last 3 days we have been passing War Monuments for soldiers from both WWI and WWII. Open fields for farming, at one time the these open spaces were the site of huge battles.
The town we are n now, Peronne, had been bombed more then any town in Europe. On the Belgium boarder, this area was the front line for keeping the Prussians out and later the Germans. There is a war museum across the center of town that we may stop in later today.

The riding over the past 2 days has been mostley flat. Tail wind and sunny with big puffy clouds. Warm in the sun, cool in the shade, perfect cycling weather.
Today's ride will be short. Heading out of town early will have us at our next town with enough time to get a few things done. The bike needs a good cleaning as well as my clothing.
